A cleaning business getting ready to open, with nothing yet for a customer to look at.
What was going wrong
The founder had a real service and nothing to show for it. The first customer to ask would have had nothing to go on, because there was nothing a customer could look at and judge.
The question was not which post to design first. It was what the business needed to look like before any post could mean anything.
The question that shaped everything
Who pays for cleaning, and why do they choose one company over another?
Homes want it to feel safe. Offices want it to feel reliable. Those pull in different directions, and a brand that tries to be both ends up being neither.
The decision
I chose reliable as the feeling to design around. Offices buy on schedule and consistency, not on warmth, and that one choice set the mark, the colour, the look of the posts and the way the website is laid out and written.
What I did
The business came to me with its name already chosen. From there I made the brand identity (logo, colours, fonts and the rules for using them), directed the social media designs from start to finish, wrote the website copy, and built and shipped the site.
I have not published results figures for this one.
